How it works
Who sees what, how a dugsi gets started and where the data is kept.
Four roles. Each sees only what belongs to the role.
Administrator
Looks after pupils, classes, teachers and families and approves enrolments. Answers the office’s conversations and can read every conversation at the school. Can make a teacher an administrator.
Website and app
Teacher
Takes attendance and gives lesson scores only in their own classes. Writes with the families in those classes.
App and website
Parent
Sees their own children’s attendance and lessons, reports absence and writes to the teachers and the office.
App and website
Pupil from age 13
The school can give a pupil their own login. The pupil signs in with a school code and their own password and sees their own progress. The parent is told and can close the access.
App and website
From sign-up to the first day
- 1
The dugsi applies
The person in charge fills in the application on the website. No school is created yet.
- 2
We review the application
Nobody can create a school or an administrator account directly from the website.
- 3
Approved
The school is created and the person in charge gets a link to set their own password.
- 4
Set-up
A checklist on the administrator’s start page walks through the school’s settings, classes, teachers, pupils and families.
- 5
The families are invited
The school shares a link with the families. When the office has approved a family and sent the login, the parent gets a login link on WhatsApp.
Where the data is kept
The database and the nightly backups are on servers in the EU. The website and the app fetch data from servers in the EU.
When the school sends a message on WhatsApp, WhatsApp processes the message, including outside the EU. The full disclosure is on the privacy page.
Each school on its own
Every row in the database belongs to one school. The database’s own rules (row-level security) refuse a lookup in another school’s rows, not just the app.
What we never share
- Pupils and families are never shown to another school.
- We sell no data, and we use no data for advertising.
- A parent sees only their own children. A teacher takes attendance and gives scores only in their own classes.
