Help & Guides
Everything you need to know about using the MyDugsi platform.
For Teachers
- 1Log in with your phone number and password.
- 2Select your class from the dashboard.
- 3Go to Registration and tap Pres, Late, Abs or Exc next to each student. The Mark all present button sets everyone to Pres.
- 4Record progress (Hifz, Murajah) in the Lessons tab.
- 5Tap Save all changes, or Save next to one student. If the school has switched on Same-day absence message, parents of students marked Abs or Late get a WhatsApp message.
For Administrators
- 1Create classes and assign teachers in the Classes hub.
- 2Invite families via the Families section.
- 3Monitor school-wide attendance and progress trends.
- 4If the school has the Finance module, you mark each family's fee as paid or unpaid per month and can send a reminder to families that have not paid.
- 5Customize your dugsi settings and holiday schedule.
For Parents
- 1Open the personal link your dugsi sent to your phone.
- 2With the login link you choose a password and tap Create login. If the school has sent a confirmation link, you fill in your and your children's details there, and the school then approves them.
- 3See each child's attendance today, this week and this month, hifz, the latest lessons and exam results.
- 4Report planned absences in advance.
- 5If the school has switched it on, you can tap I have paid for the month and add a reference. The school confirms the payment.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is MyDugsi?
Teachers record attendance and lessons, and parents follow their child’s attendance and progress. MyDugsi is free for dugsis and is built as sadaqah jariyah.
What does MyDugsi cost?
No licence, no subscription and no paid add-ons. Many dugsis run on volunteers and on parents’ payments. A subscription would take money away from teaching. That is why MyDugsi is built and run as ongoing charity, and we keep running costs low enough for that to last.
How does a dugsi get started?
A new dugsi is set up only after we have reviewed its application. Nobody can create a school or an administrator account directly from the website. The school is created and the person in charge gets a link to set their own password. A checklist on the administrator’s start page walks through the school’s settings, classes, teachers, pupils and families.
What can parents see and do?
A parent can see how their child is doing without asking the teacher. A parent reports absence before the lesson starts. The teacher sees it in the register the same day.
Is there an app?
Yes. MyDugsi has an app for iPhone and Android, and it also works in a web browser on a phone or a computer.
Which languages is MyDugsi in?
In Danish, English, Swedish, Somali and Arabic.
Where is the data kept?
The database and the nightly backups are on servers in the EU. The website and the app fetch data from servers in the EU.
Is my data secure?
The connection to MyDugsi is encrypted (HTTPS). All schools share one database, but every row belongs to one school, and a school's users can only see their own school's data. Only MyDugsi's platform administrators can see across schools. What we do with data is described on the privacy page.
Do you sell data or show adverts?
The pupils’ and families’ data belongs to the school. We use it only to run MyDugsi for the school. We sell no data, and we use no data for advertising.
How do notifications to parents work?
When a teacher saves attendance under Registration and has marked a child Abs or Late, the parent can get a WhatsApp message the same day on the phone number the school has registered. This only happens if an administrator has switched on Same-day absence message under School settings, and only to parents who have given consent. It is off when a school starts. It applies to registration in the browser; when a teacher saves from the app, no absence message is sent. In the parent portal, parents can switch the summary off, but not the absence message. Which provider sends the message, and what that means for your data, is on our privacy page.
